Welcome to Sonic Drive-In

Sonic Drive-In is the largest chain of drive-in restauarants in the United States. Our restaurants offer an extensive menu with a variety of favorite and unique menu items. We continue the tradition of the fifties with skating carhop service. This allows us to deliver our “made to order” food directly to the customer’s car.

Along with the fun atmosphere created by skating carhops and on-lot music for our customer's enjoyment, our made-to-order food, fast, friendly, personalized service, and on-lot entertainment sets us apart from the competition.

Buddy McClain and Bruce Vaughn met in the first grade and became business partners in 1984 when they acquired rights to the Jackson, MS market. Buddy acquired an Area Development Agreement (ADA) for the Laurel/Hattiesburg DMA in September of 1996. The ADA for the Mississippi Gulf Coast was acquired in February of 1997.

The Mobile, Alabama DMA was acquired on July 1, 1998 and consists of 12 drive-ins. In 2001 they ventured to build Sonics in a new market, Tampa, FL. And in 2005 started working towards building stores in the West Palm Beach area.

MVP bought their newest acquisition in 2010 from another franchisee, from whom we bought 6 stores in the Tuscaloosa, AL DMA, and one store in Europa, MS.

MVP Sonic Group now owns 58 Sonic Drive-Ins across three states. In Jackson, MS we have 22 locations, 2 in North Mississippi, 5 in the Hattiesburg, MS area, and 5 on the MS Gulf Coast. In Alabama, we have 12 in the Mobile, AL area, and 6 in the Tuscaloosa, AL DMA. MVP has 4 restaurants in the Tampa, FL area, and then 2 in West Palm Beach, FL.

In 2011 we have very little planned growth through new stores or acquisitions, improving same store sales is our goal.
